Pink Squishy Thing?

I know I told some of you I would post some more images yesterday, but for some reason (and I can't put my finger on it) I ran out of time.....don't really know what occupied my time.....

Anyways, some friends of ours, Mana and Annette Vautier (don't ask how to pronounce their last name....you'll get it wrong anyways...haha) were watching Cole for us while we were in the hospital. (Thanks again guys!) On Monday night they brought Cole in to see his new baby sister!
I'm not sure what he was thinking but I'm sure he didn't know what to do about this quiet little pink squishy thing that papa was holding. I don't think he really wanted to get too close to it.
I tried to take his hand and show him how to touch his new little sister "soft", but he was trying pretty hard not to touch her at all. Even after I made him touch her face he still wasn't sure if he was allowed to be this close with her.

First time with his new baby sister.

REALLY didn't want to touch her.

Looking around to see if it's OK to be this close

Since I think Avery is so cute here are some more pictures......don't really have a story to go along with them, but I'm guessing most of you don't really read the posts.....you just like looking at the pretty pictures (and I don't blame you!)

I think Avery heard me call her a pink squish thing.

Now she's whispering to Mama what she thinks of me.

My beautiful girls!

Baby Avery!

I am letting Dayna take a break from blogging, so that means everyone reading this will get the privilege of reading my first official post! (yeah I'm a little behind the times!)

We are excited to bring you pictures of our new little girl.
She was born earlier today (October 27, 2008) at 1:03 pm. She weighed 8 lbs. 3 oz's and she was 20" long. (and the cutest baby girl in the world....sorry everyone else your kids will have to take a back seat in this contest)
Both Dayna and Avery are doing very well. (knock on wood)

Momma holding the new baby!

Quick Summary:

Sunday (Oct 26)

8:30 pm
We arrived at the hospital and got checked in and settled in our room, so they could start the whole process. Once they checked Dayna they realized that they didn't need to strip her membrane since she was having too many contractions already. This means that we didn't really need to come in Sunday night, but since we were there we stayed the night.

Monday (Oct 27)

3:00 am
Dayna was given a regular drip of the petocin to start the induction process.

~6:30 am
Dayna's doctor came in and broke her water. (I'm a little curious how you can break water?!...unless it's frozen.)

~8:00 am
Dayna got her epidural! Yeah! here's a picture of her smiling face right after she got it!

Dayna on cloud 9!
(actually she's on some good drugs)

11:30 am
Dayna starts pushing.

1:03 pm
Avery finally pops out!

Trying to grab Papa's finger with both hands.

~1:15 pm
Papa finally gets to hold his baby girl.

Papa and Daddy's little girl!

~1:40 pm
Mama gets to hold her again.

~5:30 pm
We got her back from the Nursery!

Sleepy baby. Sleepy Mama.

It's my Turn!

I had another ultra sound today to make sure Avery's head is down and sure enough it is. While I was having that done the tech. decided to check the baby's measurements one last time. She is now measuring at 8lbs. 7oz. Big baby!

The doctor checked my progress again and I was still only dilated to a 1 until she said she could make it a 2 with a little help. So I am now a 2. So nice of her. Then she proceeded to tell me that because the baby is already so big we have two options:

1-let my body go into labor naturally, which could still be awhile, and that most likely it would end up in a c-section because the longer we wait the bigger Avery gets

-or-

2-get induced where it could possibly still end up in c-section but I would have a much better chance of a vaginal delivery.

I chose option 2 since I would like to avoid a c-section as much as possible. Tom and I had already discussed this and I knew how he felt and knew he would be ok with me making that decision without him. So, I am happy to say, at the very latest, as long as I don't miraculously go into labor before then, we will have our baby girl Monday the 27th. We are both very excited!

My little sister had her sweet baby boy, Jayden, yesterday @ 6:13pm. He weighed 7lbs. 1oz. and is 20in. long.

My wonderful brother, Travis, took a picture with his cell phone and sent it to me. Jayden is so adorable! Lots of dark hair. Once I figure out how to transfer pictures from my cell phone to the computer I will post his picture.

It was funny because the first thing I thought when I saw the picture was, that looks like Travis. So he must have a lot of Greenhalgh in him.

I am so very happy for my sis, and her hubby but being so far away and not being able to be there with them made me very sad and emotional. I knew it would be hard but not that hard. Thank goodness for the technology we have now that we can share those special moments.

Congratulation on your new little addition
Eric and Dee Dee! We love you!

Just like Christmas!

For all of her grand kids my mom crochets a receiving blanket, fleece blanket, a couple of bibs and couple of burp cloths and I got Avery's in the mail yesterday. They all turned out so cute! I was able to pick out the material our last trip to Utah. I am so excited to be able to use them here soon.

Thanks mom I love them and I know Avery will too.

Yesterday we also got Avery's dresser. This one looks much better, no imprints. USA Baby was very good at getting it to us as quickly as possible and they were very good with costumer service. They took care of everything with no hassle. I would definitely buy from them again.

Now that we have the blankets and dresser, we are now all ready for our baby girl.

Entertaining!

After putting a load of laundry in the washer I went into the bathroom to put on a little bit of make-up. A minute went by and I was trying to listen for Cole thinking it was awful quite. I couldn't hear anything so I went to find him to see what he could possibly be getting into.

It was so funny! When I did find him he was just standing there watching the laundry go round and round in the washer. He loved it!

It amazes me what entertains kids sometimes!

Luv You Bu Bye!

Ever since Ike hit Tom has been working from home because the building he works in had water damage on the 5th floor, the floor he works on, and the 6th floor.

It has been so nice having him home even though he had to be working most of the time. Just having him here was wonderful.

He said he actually got more done being at home than he did being at work only because I knew he needed not to be disturbed, where at work he has a hard time telling the guys, that love to stop by and talk, to GO AWAY!

I think it should become a permanent thing but I really don't see that happening. Oh well, One can wish.

So today he has gone back to his building. No more working from home. So sad! We were hoping it wouldn't be at least until after the baby was born so he didn't have had to take the time off but unfortunately it didn't work out that way. Dang, and so close!

Cole and I will sure miss him around here!

Sad Face!!
(not very pretty)

Hurray, a Fence!

We finally have a fenced in back yard!

Even after moving into our rental house we were without a fence, due to Ike, for a while. But the owner finally had it fixed and we are now able to enjoy the yard and Cole can have a great time exploring, playing in the grass, eating dirt basically be a boy.

Be careful with that rock and your bare toesies.
Who let their child outside without shoes!?

What a find!

Rummaging through pots left behind by the previous tenants

Cole found a baseball left behind that later we discovered was infested with ants.
Ick! That was the end of that ball.
~~~
For all of our loved ones back in Utah notice, NO SNOW!
Just shorts and T-shirts!!
Yummy!
I have a mole on my face above my lip and Cole started picking at it the other day. I thought he was just being curious but when he went and put his mouth on it like he was going to eat it I realized he thought it was food. Me and Tom both busted up laughing. It was quite funny! What a silly kid.
I must be starving him if he is looking for things on my face to eat!
Oh Hmm...
I waited an hour and a half to see the doctor just to be told that I am now at a one. Woo Hoo. Half a cm. more than I was the previous two weeks. I could just cry! I feel like she is never going to get here!
But again, I am still healthy her heart still sounds good and only two weeks to go.
Target, You're the BEST!
This is pretty lame but I have to share because I am so excited! We found a baby loaf of Tillamook cheese for the first time since moving to Houston! A whole 2 lbs. instead of 1 lb. I haven't been able to find it anywhere. It was like nobody ate that much cheese here. And it's not just the Tillamook but all the cheeses. They all only come in a 1 lb. bar. We were going through 1 lb. so quickly I felt like I was buying cheese all the time.
That really made my night! Thanks Target!
More Teeth
Cole is getting his seventh tooth appearing on the bottom. Today, Tom also discovered a molar on the top, which would make eight, that is starting to break through. That would explain the bad bruise he had about a month ago.
One day I had him upside down and noticed a pretty horrible bruise in his mouth. I thought maybe he was getting a tooth but nothing appeared and it didn't seem to bother him. Weeks later after the bruise disappears the tooth is now revealing itself. The same thing is happening on the other side with the bruising so once it goes away we'll be expecting another molar as long as that is what the bruise was really from.
Another Week, Another Check-up
Sad news, at least for me, I am still in the same position I was last week, 1/2 cm. By this time with Cole I had already had him, not that having him early was a good thing because it just landed him in the NICU, but this is just getting depressing! I am grateful she didn't come too early but now would be good. At least even dilated more would be an improvement at this point.
Her heart rate is still sounding very well, measurements are right where they should be and she is moving a ton. Let's cross our fingers for next week. Come on baby!
Tylenol Anyone!?
Saturday we left @ 11:00am to go pick up Avery's dresser. It is a good 45 min. to a hour drive but we thought for sure we would be back by 1:00 or just a little after.
We got to USA baby and were told that the crib that goes with the dresser wouldn't be in until at least January maybe February which always means even later than that. That would have been nice to know back in August when I ordered it. So we could take the dresser and wait til who knows when for the crib or pick out a whole new set. We decided on plan B, we found another cute set.
They had the crib in stock at their store but the dresser wasn't in stock. It was, however, in stock at another location, which was another 30-45 drive. We figured might at well go pick it up because either way we would have to make a drive.
We had a little trouble finding the other store. We couldn't find the exit we were supposed to take so finally decided to call the store for better directions. It ended up we went 20 miles past the exit. So we backtracked and finally made it to our destination, picked up the dresser and headed for home.
By the time we got back home it was a little after 8:00pm. Tom missed going to the priesthood session of conference, and the day was pretty much over. What started out as a semi-quick trip turned out to be a whole day adventure.
The fun doesn't stop there. Sunday when we opened the dresser we found that the packaging material had imprinted on the top, all four corners and along the back. It is very noticeable. So yesterday I had to send an email along with some pictures of the damage to the owner. Now we are just waiting to see what they are going to about it. Yeah, the waiting game.
GDO (girls dine out)
I went to the Olive Garden with a bunch of girlfriends from the ward last night and had a good time. I think I ate a little too much though, more than I've eaten in a long time. I probably looked like the biggest pig. Let's see, I had a salad, a bowl of soup, 5 or 6 bread sticks dipped in alfredo sauce, and a huge plate of fettuccine alfredo.
I ordered the never ending pasta so that is why I ate the whole plate thinking I would get another full plate that would make a great lunch for the next day. Get my moneys worth right, not quite. My seconed helping was wimpy! Very dissapointing! I could have stoped half way through my first plate and still ended up taking more home than I actually did. I think everyone got a good laugh out of it. Lesson learned for next time.
Counting Down
I had another Dr. appointment yesterday and Avery's heart rate still sounds good and healthy. I'm only dilated 1/2 cm. though so not quite even to a one yet:( But we are now down to weekly visits so hopefully the rest of this pregnancy will go quickly. Let's hope because I'm ready. Don't get me wrong I love the back pain, sleepless nights, hoping I don't pee a little every time I sneeze, and being oh so tired all of the time but it just gets to that point where it is time and I hit that point a few weeks ago.
